We believe that every child should develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to become a successful writer. Our writing curriculum follows the National Curriculum and is enhanced through a bespoke progression of carefully chosen, high-quality texts that inspire children to write for a wide range of audiences and purposes.
We place a strong emphasis on securing the foundational skills of writing, including handwriting, spelling, grammar, punctuation and sentence construction, ensuring these are taught explicitly and practised regularly.
Through engaging, meaningful writing opportunities, we nurture creativity, independence and resilience, helping every child to develop a lifelong love of writing and the confidence to communicate effectively throughout their lives. Our approach is reflected in our outcomes, with pupils consistently achieving above national averages in end of key stage writing assessments, demonstrating the strength of our curriculum and high expectations for all learners.
