Technology plays an essential role in children's education and everyday lives. At Powick CE Primary School, we embrace the many opportunities that technology provides to enhance learning, communication, creativity and collaboration. Throughout their time at school, children use a wide range of digital technologies to support their education and prepare them for life in an increasingly connected world.

Alongside these opportunities, we recognise that being online also presents potential risks. Our aim is to equip every child with the knowledge, skills and confidence to use technology safely, responsibly and respectfully. We teach pupils how to make informed choices online, protect their personal information, develop healthy online relationships and know what to do if something makes them feel worried, uncomfortable or unsafe.

Online safety is embedded throughout our curriculum and is taught through Computing, Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE), collective worship and wider curriculum opportunities. It reflects current safeguarding guidance, including emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), online misinformation, cyberbullying, harmful content, online scams and inappropriate contact. We encourage children to think critically about what they see online and to understand that not everything they encounter on the internet is accurate, trustworthy or appropriate.

We believe that keeping children safe online is a shared responsibility between school, parents and carers. By working together, we can help children develop positive digital habits that will enable them to enjoy the benefits of technology safely both now and in the future.

At Powick CE Primary School, we use age-appropriate filtering and monitoring systems alongside high-quality teaching to support pupils' online safety.
