Some of the Year 5 girls and their families helped to organise a superhero cake sale to raise money to send Charlie to Lapland. They raised an amazing £972.08. Well done.

Happy New Year and welcome back to school after the Christmas holiday.  I hope you all have a busy and enjoyable time.  Thank you for all the lovely cards and presents received.

 

This term PE will be on Monday and Thursday each week.

This term we will be learning about the Aztecs and Space, with a trip to The National Space Center in March.  Our ICT, Art and DT and much of our English and Maths work will be linked to these topics.  We will also be focusing on and exploring themes of kindness and respect in Circle time.

Sycamore class took part in the Christmas talent show. Everyone enjoyed the great variety of acts. Well done to everyone who took part. Sycamore class winner was Harry Williams. 
Sycamore class enjoyed baking festive mince pies. They made the pastry by hand, weighing out all the ingredients. They were very tasty.

This half term we will using the Willow Pattern Plate as inspiration for much of our work.  We will explore the story and the language features used to help us then write our own version. We will also research China and explore Chinese pottery and pattern in art.  In Maths we will working on place value, addition and subtraction, features of 3d shapes and multiplication.  There will be a big focus on problem solving.  In Science we will be learning about Forces, in History The Anglo-Saxons, PE will have a 'social' focus and we will work on our running skills for cross country and in Music we will be exploring rock music and learning Journey's 'Don't stop believing'.

Please ensure you have your PE kit in school everyday.  PE will either be on a Thursday or Friday.  During the Autumn term a second lesson will be on Wednesday, Spring term on Monday and Summer term Tuesday.

 

Homework will be given on a Friday to be returned on the following Friday. 

Spellings will be given on a Monday to be learnt for the following Monday.

Please ensure you also do 20 minutes reading a night and fill in your reading diary ready to show on Friday to earn your reading block.  You can log onto Fiction Express at home using your login or set up a free account on 'Oxfordowls' to access ebooks.

Frog club will be done on a Friday.  Why not use 'hit the button' at home to get you ready?
