Sycamore - Year 5

Welcome to Year 5 Sycamore Class.

Teacher: Miss Maclean

Teaching Assistant: Mrs Barber

We have started Wellbeing Week with a shared reading session with Year 3

We hopped on the smoothie bike and peddled our way to enjoying a healthy strawberry, pineapple and mango smoothie.

We loved the climbing wall.

We completed the Powick Mile.

Some of the Year 5 girls and their families helped to organise a superhero cake sale to raise money to send Charlie to Lapland. They raised an amazing £972.08. Well done.

We launched our bottle rockets and measured how far they travelled.

World Book Day. We have been celebrating World Book Day with our potato book characters. They enjoyed having their story read to them by their owners.

We have been learning about Aztec Gods. We have used what we have learnt to create our own God. We then presented these in our groups to the class.

We shared our stories with Year 6. We shared what we liked, what we thought was successful and what could be a target for next time.

We had a great morning when QinetiQ visited us today. We had to work as a team to solve problems. We had so much fun.

Happy New Year and welcome back to school after the Christmas holiday.  I hope you all have a busy and enjoyable time.  Thank you for all the lovely cards and presents received.

This term PE will be on Monday and Thursday each week.

This term we will be learning about the Aztecs and Space, with a trip to The National Space Center in March.  Our ICT, Art and DT and much of our English and Maths work will be linked to these topics.  We will also be focusing on and exploring themes of kindness and respect in Circle time.

The christingles are made ready for our service in church.

Sycamore class took part in the Christmas talent show. Everyone enjoyed the great variety of acts. Well done to everyone who took part. Sycamore class winner was Harry Williams.
Sycamore class enjoyed baking festive mince pies. They made the pastry by hand, weighing out all the ingredients. They were very tasty.

Fun in the snow!

We really enjoyed taking part in the Wordmania spelling competition.

We were transported back to Anglo-Saxon times at Bishop's Wood.

Year 5 had fun at the cross country.
