During Half Term the children in Year 2 kept a holiday diary. Today we shared some of our favourite bits with some children in Year 1. Maxwell, Ella, Isabel, Georgia and Henry enjoyed showing what they did.

Our trip to The Commandery Thursday 19th November
On Thursday 19th November, Year 2 went to The Commandery in Worcester. We learnt about what it was like to live at the time of The Plague and The Great Fire of London. We dressed in clothes of the time, made candles out of beeswax, wrote with quills, played with toys from the time and played games. We had a great time and learned lots more about our topic. We played a game in the Great Hall, called The Farmer's in his Den.

Welcome to Year 2!
We have begun our maths work this year looking at place value and ordering numbers. We will be busy working with 2 digit numbers and stating the tens number and the units number. We will then move onto looking at 3 digit numbers. We will follow this with looking at odd and even numbers and counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. The children may like to play the maths games listed below at home. You will need to go to www.educationcity.com and use the login and password which is stuck in the front of your home reading diary.
ordering numbers - catch a kuko
partitioning numbers - bumper cars
odd and even numbers - crazy golf
In writing our focus as always is on handwriting and some children have begun joining their letters. We are having a focus on writing 'Perfect sentences' which need both a capital letter and full stop and should make sense. We will also move onto exploring adjectives and a wider range of punctuation to include commas, exclamation marks and questions marks.
